Dealing with Food Addiction

More and more, people are coming to realize that food is taking the role of an addictive substance in their life.

It can be a real challenge, since, we do need to eat, and it does have such an immediate impact on our bodies, brains and, often, emotions.

I found a great article on CNN on food addiction

  1. Another complicating factor in disordered eating patterns is the use of food as, not only fuel for our bodies, but as a reward or punishment. It’s easy to justify that extra piece of chocolate cake if “we’ve had a hard day at work” or to punish ourselves for not working out by not allowing ourselves any cake at all. Our relationship with food can be very complicated and may require “resetting” to help us get back to a healthy relationship that includes listening to our body’s hunger and satiety cues and replacing unhealthy eating behaviors with other behaviors that fill the need we are attempting to meet with food.

  2. Healing our relationship with food can be fantastic learning that can positive impact all areas of life as well.
